NT:High tide storm surge warning issued

Residents in low-lying coastal areas of Darwin have been warned their homes could be
inundated by water .. as Tropical Cyclone Carlos continues to track north over the Northern
Territory coast.

Some residents in the Darwin suburb of Rapid Creek have already been evacuated to welfare
centres .. and the NT Emergency Service released a statement today warning residents on
the coast to prepare a plan for evacuation.

Much of the water that flooded roads last night has subsided by this morning .. and
many people in Darwin's waterfront suburbs were carrying on with life .. still out exercising
and walking their dogs.
