Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R., TN) has brokered an agreement between firms and insurance curriers for splitting the cost of an asbestos trust fund that lawmakers are trying to push through Congress. Insurers would pay $46 billion, and defendant firms up to $68 billion under the agreement. Initial plans required companies and insurers to each pay $45 billion.
