NSW: Major changes to Carr cabinet likely

Major changes in the New South Wales government line-up are expected to be announced today.

At least three ministers are expected to be dumped when Premier BOB CARR chairs the first
Labor caucus meeting following the March 27 state election.

The casualties are tipped to include Environment Minister PAM ALLEN, Local Government
Minister ERNIE PAGE and Sports Minister GABRIELLE HARRISON.

Party powerbrokers have held talks to finalise the ministries ahead of the meeting.

The Left has demanded its representation in the ministry be lifted from six to seven as a
reward for strong performances by its candidates in key seats.

The Left appears confident it has secured an extra ministerial spot, increasing the total
number of ministers from 20 to 21.
