Fed: Patterson refuses to promise more health money
CANBERRA, Feb 23 AAP - Federal Health Minister Kay Patterson refused today to promisemore Commonwealth money for public hospitals.
She said the states should put more into hospitals.
Senator Patterson, speaking on ABC Television's Insiders program, defended her decisionto boycott a meeting with state health ministers last Friday because she thought she wouldbe ambushed.
She said a meeting with them last November "degenerated into a debacle" after the statesasked her to put the Commonwealth's money on the table for the next Australian HealthCare Agreement.
